Transfer Acceleration Report Introduction

College Your Way coaches can work with a student client at any time prior to
last semester before transfer, but the absolute best time to plan is first semester, first year. Timing and planning for efficient scheduling and transfer is key.  Prerequisites need to be taken as early as possible. Test scores will determine
levels of Math and English.

Every student client final coaching report will be different, as every situation is
not the same. That is the most unique aspect of College Your Way; the personal attention to each student client. We will advise how best to handle transferring
to get the most for your time and money.

Our mapping should look like most college curriculum check sheets. College Your Way mapping adds to that by personalizing the courses for each student. Each program has its own requirements for graduation. Most 2 year colleges want graduates.  It is not necessary to graduate to transfer, BUT transferable courses MUST be taken.

Most Community College degree programs require 60 - 66 credits. When courses can be matched at the Transfer In (TI) college, it is beneficial to take at the Transfer Out (TO) when cost is less.

Often required courses have prerequisites. When those prerequisites are credit courses, they may be able to be use for Free Electives. Based on testing results, non-credit courses may be required before taking Math and/or English courses. Those will be built in the mapping as needed.

We do recommend Summer courses if the semester schedule works for the

student client. Summer semesters are shorter in time, often 4, 5, 6 or 8 weeks.  During Summer semesters 1-4 courses can be taken, depending on the timing

of the sessions.

Also, most colleges now offer courses during a Winter session. If a session is 3-4 weeks, it is advised to only take one course. These semesters are short and intense.  A full semester of course work is done, regardless of the semester length.

It is better to do good work with good grades than rush through taking credits with lower grades. GPA is important.

College Your Way prepares a proposed mapping of courses. The elective courses are the ones to focus on to insure they will transfer and meet requirements. It is important to take the courses that will transfer. Some Intro courses will not transfer or if do go to elective credits at the TI.

The college TI has specific requirements. Our mapping allows transfer course work to be done in 2 years, if that is the goal. Also, following our plan will allow a slight buffer, if courses need to be retaken. It is important to know the policy on retaking courses and how GPA is calculated.

Our mapping shows which order specific courses must be taken. Also, all courses are not offered every semester.

Your college goal is our end goal for you!
